December 20, 2004I hate my teethI'm missing both of my upper lateral incisors. Most people can't tell because I wear this slick little flipper that fills the gaps with two pearly whites. But then last night it broke. I was having lunch with my family, bit into a piece of crusty bread and, oops, one of the teeth broke right off. Too bad the tooth fairy doesn't come around anymore. I was headed to a party, so we tried crazy gluing the tooth back on. It worked at first, but just as I pulled up to the house it broke off again. It can be repaired (the other tooth already broke off a few months ago), but it is so annoying to have a tooth missing (or wear my ugly old retainer) in the meantime. Suddenly I am trying not to smile or laugh because I don't want to open my mouth. Which gets me thinking...I really need to figure out a more permanent solution to my missing teeth. But none of the options are ideal. Implants are expensive, invasive, and can fail. Bridges will ruin four of my good teeth. And most of the other options are more temporary (Maryland Bridge, etc.). I'm not sure what the answer is, but I need to figure this out.

December 14, 2004Big White = Big FunLast night I returned home from a fabulous trip up to Big White. There were about 12 of us in all, staying in two neighbouring chalets. I'm not much of a skier/boarder, so I didn't hit the slopes (except for some crazy, late night sledding). It was definitely a weekend of indulgence, as I did lots of eating, drinking, partying, hot tubbing, sleeping, and relaxing. It was great to have a nice getaway before the holiday bustle kicks into high gear. I will post some pics tonight or tomorrow.
