September 22, 2004HeavenlyToday I had my first ever professional massage at Yaletown Pilates. I tend to have a lot of tension in my upper back, so I thought I would try massage therapy. I've heard some horror stories about getting bruised and being extremely sore afterwards. But this was not the case. Although it was a little intense at times, I left feeling very loose and relaxed.

September 21, 2004Pedro for PresidentI forgot to mention that I saw Napoleon Dynamite about two weeks ago. I recommend you go see it, as I can't remember the last time a movie made me laugh that much.

September 19, 2004Weekend UpdateDang, is it really Sunday night already? Ah well, at least I had a great weekend. Friday night some friends and I checked out Mo' Butta, a jazz club in Gastown. I give it two very enthusiastic thumbs up (did anyone get that Clueless reference?). Great music, great wine, great food, great atmosphere -- two thumbs up. Afterwards we hit Doolin's Irish Pub and managed to find a vacant table. We soon realized why that location had been vacated -- it's the last table on the way to the bathroom and it seemed that every guy that walked by felt like it was his last chance to pickup a lady after perusing the bar. Needless to say, we witnessed numerous pickup attempts. It was interesting to compare the many different approaches and techniques (offering drinks, staring, lurking, asking for directions...just to name a few). Although a few were quite creepy, most were fairly entertaining. My fave was the guy who referred to himself as the "dance machine." On Saturday I headed to the Ridge for a dentist appointment and a visit with my parents. That night Mel, Sarah and I went to Kam's Place for dinner and, I'm ashamed to admit, watched Chasing Liberty. I often appreciate that kind of crap, but not this time. It was pretty dull and I was way more interested in the side romance with Jeremy Piven's character than the romance between the two main characters. Next time I'm getting Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, I'm sure it will be MUCH better. Today I did a little shopping with Priya at Metrotown. Later Mel, Priya and I did a little walk down The Drive -- had dinner at Marcello's Pizzeria and enjoyed some tasty gelato for dessert. AND I managed to get things at home a little more in order, but now I must go to sleep. Good day. I said good day.

September 17, 2004Overdue UpdateFred has been pestering me to update my blog and rightly so -- it's been a while since my last entry. The move to our new place went well. Mel's and my family were indispensable, so thanks to them for all their help. I realize now how much crap I really have. But it has all managed to fit somewhere. And luckily, we haven't had to buy a ton of house stuff (furniture, dishes, etc.). We're getting settled in nicely, with our cool entertainment centre and pink bathroom. Just a few boxes left. Mel is loving the in-suite laundry and I'm loving my new commute. Work is going well -- very busy these days. Lately I've been doing some print design work, which has been fun (it's always satisfying to see the finished product). Well, that's it for now.
