Glowbal

Had lunch with Priya at Glowbal yesterday. I tried the Grilled Chicken & Smoked Gouda Wrap after hearing some "glowing" reviews about it, and I have to say that it was quite tasty. The service was great as well -- they hung up my rain jacket and then helped me put it on when I left!

Moving

The countdown is on! Mel and I are moving to a two-bedroom, ground-level suite in Vancouver at the end of the month. I can't wait. It's close to the Skytrain, so my commute to work will be much shorter. And while I have enjoyed living with Nicole and Fred (thank you for taking me in!), it's time for me to get out of their hair and get my own place. I'm really looking forward to doing some decorating, as this is pretty much my first place (others have always been short-term). The other day Mel and I were pretty excited about the new Ikea catalogue. Just have to be careful though, as I'm going to have a lot more living expenses now and can't be spending cash on frivolous things like an over-the-tank magazine rack. But come on, everyone needs one of those. :)

TUTS

Last week I went to the Theatre Under the Stars to see Footloose. I really enjoyed the show, although the zillions of mosquitos (which seem to love me this year -- I've had a couple of nasty reactions, including a bite on my eyelid) were rather annoying. I came prepared with my Muskol though, so I managed to avoid getting bitten.

The Amazing Race

We had our summer event at work about two weeks ago and we ended up running around downtown and (via the aquabus) Granville Island in a Fear Factor meets Amazing Race event. The Fear Factor portion involved eating some nasty stuff (stinky cheese, sardines, a century egg...), then we searched for clues and completed a number of challenges. One involved making a stretcher out of cardboard and duct tape, then carrying a team member the stretcher through an obstacle course. Another involved making a balloon animal, then selling it to someone (with proceeds going to charity). One team lucked out and sold their balloon to Trevor Linden for $20! We ended the day at the Dockside Restuarant in the Granville Island Hotel for food and drinks. All in all, it was great day.
