A pleasant surprise

Back in December I received an e-mail out of the blue from a graphic designer at Authentik, a campus company of Trinity College Dublin (Ireland's oldest University). She told me that the company is planning to publish an article on Québec in Authentik en français, one of their educational magazines for students, and asked to use my photo of the Chateau Frontenac (she saw it in my gallery) for the cover of the magazine. I granted my permission in exchange for a small payment, a photo credit and some copies of the magazine. It boggles my mind that out of all the photos of the Chateau Frontenac, they picked mine. When I created my online gallery, I never expected to get this kind of request. Very cool.

So, I was walking downtown yesterday (on Homer near Davie), on my way to run an errand and talking to James on my cell. I approach a guy on the street, who is also on his cell and talking quite loudly. James asks who he can hear in the background and, as I pass, I realize it is Jason Priestly! He is looking across the street at the Soho Cafe and seems to be describing the building to the caller on the other end. I tell James and he thinks I'm on crack. I convince him that I'm serious.

A few minutes later, I'm walking back down the street after finishing up my errand. I see a limo and a bunch of people in front of the Soho and figure that Jason is over there. But no, as I approach Davie I see that he is walking right towards me. He turns his head and spits and then I sorta cut in front of him to turn the corner and he looks right at me. I wanted to yell "90210 Forever" or something, but I just didn't want to be one of those people.
