Hey Mariah

Well this marks the end of my first weekend house- and dog-sitting. Friday I had some friends over for dinner and we watched I am Sam. The movie was okay. I did enjoy the music (all Beatles covers) and might check out the soundtrack.

Yesterday my friend James and I went to Steveston for lunch and caught some rays at Gary Point Park. Later my friend Mel joined us for dinner and a hang out session. I think I blew them both away with my Mariah Carey impersonation. James you better destroy that picture! :)

Today Mel and I saw Blue Crush. For some reason I really wanted to see it, and it wasn't nearly as crappy/cheesy as I thought it would be. In fact, I really liked it. Anyways, time for bed. I must get my beauty sleep. ;)

Frolf

Well, I dropped my sister and brother-in-law off at the airport tonight. They're off to Toronto where they will pick up their new Jetta TDI Wagon, and then onto TDI Fest 2002 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am house- and dog-sitting in the meantime.

Today I played frolf (aka disc golf) for the first time at Mundy Park. I had a great time, except for the water hazards. Ah well, I just need some more practice. Thanks to Sarah and Ryan for showing me the ropes!

Suggestions?

I've been told (in a rather sarcastic tone) that my journal is quite "gripping". Okay, okay - I'll admit that this journal isn't the most exciting read. If you have any suggestions about what you would like to see in here, let me know.

TGIF

Well, it's Friday. Had a pretty good week. Monday had a family dinner. Tuesday went to WW. Wednesday I went to Aquasize with my sister. Thursday went to the pub with James, Vicki and Sarah. And today I'm probably going to a BBQ at my friend Brian's house. Next week I start house-sitting for my sister.

So I've cold-turkied on my L.O.R.D. addiction (for now). But last night I revisited one of my old addictions...TDI Club Chat. Stayed up way past my bedtime. Ah well, I managed to convince three more people to sign my guestbook! It's pretty sad that I'm excited about that.

Tall Ships

Checked out the Richmond Tall Ships last night with my sister and brother-in-law (sorry for being late guys!). It was a cool event - I just wish we had seen some of the ships sailing. Next time I should try and catch the arrival of the ships.

Oh Canada!

I went to the grand finale of the Celebration of Lights last night. I was down at English Bay pretty early to reserve some prime space for friends - we ended up with a group of over 25 people! There was a huge crowd - they estimate that about 300,000 people watched the show. The fireworks were great, and Canada ended up winning the competition. Getting out of there was a bit crazy, so we hung out at a friend of a friend's apartment downtown to avoid some of the madness.

Not much to report

Well, it's Saturday and don't have much to report. Last night I didn't do anything except lie on the couch and watch TV. Pretty exciting, huh? I was tired though.

Tonight I might catch the fireworks downtown. I hope the weather gets a bit better though.

Play that funky music

Just got back from my Weight Watchers meeting. I've lost 10.8 pounds so far! Woohoo! I also got my new stereo for my car installed today. I'm very happy about that.

I saw Goldmember yesterday and was a bit disappointed. There were definitely funny parts - in particular, I enjoyed the intro dance sequence, the intro "movie within a movie" cameo fest and the Dr. Evil "Hard Knock Life" rap video. But overall, it just didn't compare to the first two.

Last night I went to Watermania with my sister. That place is cool. They have two waterslides, a wave pool, whirl pools, steam room, sauna and a gym. I might go back there next week.

Loving the long weekend

It's Monday and I'm not at work! I love long weekends (it's British Columbia Day). :) I actually ended up watching a lot of movies this weekend, which is pretty rare for me. On Saturday night I watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone with some friends. I haven't read any of the books, but I did enjoy it. It didn't need to be that long though (my friends started to lose interest towards the end). Last night I ended up watching Dragonfly after a get-together/party was prematurely ended.

And today, well I'm planning to go for dim sum and to see the new Austin Powers flick with my sister and brother-in-law.

Sounds for the Sentra!

My friend James and I went out for lunch today. Afterwards we checked out the new A & B Sound in Coquitlam and I bought a stereo for my car. No more tapes for me...I'm going to be kickin' it CD-style in the Sentra!

Jane's addiction

Hi. My name's Jane and I'm a L.O.R.D. addict. For those of you who don't know, L.O.R.D. (which stands for Legend of the Red Dragon) is a BBS Door game with a medievel Role Playing Game theme. You do battle, buy weapons and visit strange places, all while trying to get as much experience, strength, gold and charm as possible. I played L.O.R.D many years ago on my brother-in-law's BBS. I became addicted and had to stop cold turkey. However, a few weeks ago I found out that you can access the old-school BBS's via telnet. So now I'm hooked again. The graphics are hurting and the game really isn't all that exciting -- but for some reason I can't stop playing. For those that are interested, come and join the fun at telnet://interplex.dyndns.org .

Doing the right thing

Sorry I haven't been updating my journal on a regular basis. I think that after finally launching Janesays I needed a little break from the site. :)

Not too much is new in my world. I watched Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing today up at school. I thought it was very good -- an honest and thought-provoking look at race relations in America. I didn't realize that was Rosie Perez dancing during the opening credits until I heard her speak (her voice is instantly recognizable!) later in the film.
