Marketing seminar

Last night I attended a marketing seminar given by Allan Knight (I went for work and my own personal interest). I thought that Mr. Knight was a very good speaker, but some of his content was a little too "touchy-feely" for my liking (read: Jane was not digging the "inner fitness" and "inner power zone" vibe). He did provide some useful tips and advice, although much of it was pretty common sense stuff. Of course, his overall goal was to sign people up for his program - I already received a friendly follow-up call from him today!

And...we're clear

Woohoo! Janesays.ca is officially up and running. Finally. I see that I made a journal entry back on June 17 saying that the site would probably up within the week. Slight underestimation! There's still a few things to fix up (like the guestbook and contact me form), but the bulk of the site is running smoothly (knock on wood). If you see any errors, please let me know. A big thank you to my brother-in-law Fred who spent most of yesterday helping me pull this thing together (not to mention the help and advice he provided while I was building the site).

I spent most of the weekend at my sister's place. They had a BBQ on Saturday, which was good fun. Then we went out for dinner last night to Nando's, which was good - but I'm not really into the spicy chicken thing. It was interesting because I always thought Nando's was a semi-formal restaurant, but it's (at least the one we went to) set up more like a fastfood place where you order at the front counter.

The WW Challenge

Today I started Weight Watchers. Now, I'm not a huge gal, but I have been putting on weight in the past few months. I lost about 20 lbs. early last year - which I kept off for most of the year - but it is has slowly been coming back. I was a bit hesitant about joining, mostly because of the cost involved, but I figured I would give it a go. My sister and her husband joined a few weeks ago and it seems to be working for them. I'll keep ya posted.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day everyone. I just came back from an awesome weekend in Whistler. Wasn't feelin too great on Friday, but this weekend was just what I needed. The condo we rented was fabulous - big hot tub, three patios - what more could a girl ask for?? :) You can see some pics in the Photos section.
