| School I am currently a student at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Located on top of Burnaby Mountain, SFU has a unique setting amongst the clouds. With over 25,000 students and 660 faculty members, SFU is a major teaching and research university that offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in a variety of disciplines. I have dabbled in a number of SFU's departments, including Psychology, Business and English. However, as a result of the first job I got through Co-operative Education (Co-op), a work experience program that provides students with job opportunities relevant to their academic studies, I have decided that the School of Communication is the place for me. Communication, as an academic discipline, is described by my University as "the study of information and how it is created, shared, distributed, consumed and used". In the working world, Communication is a diverse field ranging from public relations to special event planning to publishing and design. |
